  1. The Venice in your photographs looks serene. An article I read recently talked about how the locals were frustrated with all the tourists. What did you feel?

    1. Hey Everyman, nice to see you back! Yes, I completely understand. Venice's population is dropping every year. I think there are some 60k ppl locals left on the islands. Commuting to the mainland is tough, water levels keeps rising - so its a problem. Add to that the huge number of tourists (esp on the main island). We were staying on the San Marco side (touristy) and struggled to get a local grocery shop, coz there were just restaurants all around. Locals told us that the mafia doesnt allow the locals to setup these stores there as restaurants and souvenirs fetch more money. So the San Marco side felt like a huge museum with restaurants near the canal, the Fondamente side was better, it felt real. The outer islands - Murano, burano etc are a lot better too.
